Guiliani, and FDNY? Good to be a Sox fan...
in NY of all places?
So, in addition to the news that Guiliani is rooting for the Sox this series, I met a former FDNY fireman at Starbucks this morning boasting about the past two games to the baristas. Of course the majority of the people behind the counter were Yanks fans, and was giving it back to him so I felt it was safe to speak up and support his rally cry.
As we both waited for our coffees (which may contain spit instead of whip cream) he was telling me why a NYC born and raised ex-firefighter is a die hard Boston fan. Turns out many years ago in high school, (he kept referring to the 70's and how I wasn't born yet) his baseball coach was a transplant from Boston. He also was telling me that he believes the passing of his former coach was why "the curse" is broken. He died in 2004 coinciding with the playoffs; he said that God couldn't handle his complaining/pleading any more since he was in closer proximity.
Two more, Boys!
Boston, you're the only, only, oooooonly! :-D
